Jack Jenkins, 96, of St. Simons Island, passed away August 15, 2021. Mr. Jenkins was born on April 9, 1925, in the old Brunswick Hospital. He was a Glynn Academy graduate and attended Mercer University. Mr. Jenkins served on a Navy Destroyer during World War II. He was long-time owner and developer of Island Development Company, the oldest real estate company on St. Simons Island. He was happily married to Faye Powell almost 71 years. Mr. Jenkins was a long-time member of St. Simons United Methodist Church. He was also involved with many organizations including the JC's, the starting of the Sunshine Festival and President of the Board of Realtors. Jack was instrumental in the development of Sea Palms, St. Claire and numerous areas of St. Simons.
Mr. Jenkins was predeceased by his parents; wife Faye and daughter, Marcia. He is survived by son, Robert (Nancy); daughter, Janet (Skip); 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles or Magnolia Island.
A private family service will be held at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.
