Obituary

John Michael Regan, 66, of Saint Simons Island died Monday, November 21, 2016 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Born June 14, 1950 in Bronx, NY, John graduated from Cardinal Hayes HS in 1968 and then attended University of New Haven graduating in 1973. He joined the US Customs Service as an inspector in July of 1975 and retired as Port Director at the Cleveland Service Port in July of 2005. He served as the past president of the USCS Emerald Society and the NTEU Chapter 161. He was inducted into the Dr. Conway Hunter Society and a Kentucky Colonel and a Ohio Commodore. John was an actor with the Cleveland cast of Flanagan's Wake in Cleveland, OH and was a member of The Island Players in Saint Simons Island, GA. A member of the ICPC, he was a Chaplain for the United States Customs Border Patrol at FLETC and most recently the Chaplain for the Brunswick, GA Police Department. He was a "Friend of Bill's since February 1977, "without which, I would have nothing", John often said. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Kevin P. Regan and Francis Patrick "Frank" Regan. Survivors include his wife, Shelia Connaughton Regan; sons, Brendan Conway and his wife Shannon (Reaves) and Daniel Patrick Regan and his wife, Lisa (Zeidner); grandchildren, James Patrick "JP" Conway, Olivia Anne Conway, Owen Michael Conway, Maeve Elizabeth Regan and Elia Cate Regan; and a brother, Patrick K. Regan. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11: a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at St. Williams Catholic Church in Saint Simons Island.
