John Edward "Buddy" Suggs, 73, of Brunswick, passed away August 8th, 2023 at his home surrounded by the love that he nurtured his entire life.

Buddy was a native of Waycross, Georgia born on May 5th, 1950 to John Enoch Suggs and Aline Head Suggs. A graduate of Glynn Academy's, Buddy was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and loved to ride around in his Jeep with his favorite guard dog, Daisy. He enjoyed playing softball as well as coaching his daughter's team and later, his granddaughter's. Other hobbies included golf and spending time with his family.

He was married to Linda Gail Sears on September 2nd, 1972 on Jekyll Island. Although divorced, the two remained lifelong best friends.

Buddy was previously employed by Musgrove Plantation for over 15 years. After retiring from Musgrove, he became employed by the Glynn County Parks and Recreation Department. He loved working for the Recreation Department where he met several co-workers who became family during his tenure.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and a host of aunts and uncles.

Buddy is survived by a daughter, Carissa Suggs (Fox) of Savannah; Six grandchildren, Katelyn Suggs, Jonathan Hudson (Alyssa), Elyse Hudson, Issac Hudson, Joshua Hudson, and Jayla Brown; 4 great grandchildren, Skylee Hudson, Kacyn, Kyree Parrish, and Jaicyn Hudson; twin sisters, Brenda Williams (Gary), and Linda Carter (Leon) of Brunswick; former wife Linda Suggs-White (Bob); along with a host of nieces and nephews to honor his memory.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 11th at 10AM at Brunswick Memorial Park funeral home. Funeral service to follow at 11AM with Brother Jordan Sasser officiating. Burial to follow at Brookman Emanuel Methodist Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Hudson, Issac Hudson, Joshua Hudson, Michael Williams, Christopher, Wesley, and Cody Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jennifer Dubose, Bill Sears Jr., Tom Ellis, and the staff of the Glynn County Parks and Recreation Department.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, remembrances be sent to Brookman Emanuel Methodist Cemetery Fund, 245 Ratcliffe Road, Brunswick Ga 31523 or Hospice of the Golden Isles.

A special thanks to the staff of Hospice of the Golden Isles (Natasha, Carol) who provided amazing, quality care to Buddy at the end of his life. We will miss him dearly, but we are so grateful for the time that we got to spend with him. Buddy will never be forgotten but forever remembered and missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
