IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnny Earl
Craven
January 13, 1949 – February 8, 2025
Johnny Earl Craven, 76, of Brunswick, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2025. He was born on January 13, 1949, to the late Ernest Earl Craven and Annie Mozelle Mulligan.
A native of Brunswick, Johnny graduated from Glynn Academy before going on to attend the University of Florida. He served in the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in 1970.
Following his discharge, Johnny moved to Atlanta and found work with the Atlanta Journal Constitution before opening his own business, Vanguard Painting and Construction.
Above all else, Johnny is remembered as a man of great faith. He spent time as an independent missionary and traveled across the globe, visiting the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe in hopes of opening the door to faith and touching the lives of residents there. He took pride in assisting his wife with her ministry, Dress a Girl Around the World.
Johnny returned to Brunswick in 2008 and quickly found ways to contribute to his community. He served as President of the Blythe Island Advisory Board, and served as President, Vice President, and Treasurer of Gideons International in Brunswick, a non-profit organization whose goal is to make the Bible accessible by distributing free copies locally and internationally.
In his free time, Johnny could often be found fishing. He found a great deal of joy in traveling to Israel, as well as following the missionary journeys of Paul through Turkey and Greece.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents as well as his grandparents, William T. & Pearlie Mae Craven and Annie Owens & Grover Cleveland Rhodes.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Lenora "Noie" Craven; son, William Kyle Craven (Mariel); sisters, Linda Ellis (Tommy) and Dawn Ortman; brother, Paul Mulligan; sisters-in-law, Margaret "Frankie" Mobley and Virginia "Jenny" Mobley; brother-in-law, Samuel Gregg Mobley (Audrey); nephews, Michael Mobley (Jessica), Bryan Mobley, Sam Mobley (Amanda), Adam Ellis (Liz), and Lee Ellis (Olivia); niece, Jana Mobley; as well as his closest friends, Gary and Rhonda Altman, and Mitchell Rhodes (Kathy).
