Obituary

Joseph Henry "Jay" Yarbrough passed away Friday night, December 19, 2025.

Known as Jay or Jaybird to his friends and loved ones, he was born December 16, 1980, in Jesup, and lived in Brunswick where he was a painter and landscaper. He was 45 years old and lived life to the fullest. His legacy is the love and compassion he showed to all he met.

Jay was preceded in death by his sister, Ashla McCarty; stepfather, John McCarty, biological father, Thomas Joseph "Grump" Bennett, grandparents, Ruth Coulson, Molly Lanier (Arnold), and "adopted" granny, Frances King; uncles, Ken Freeman, Lance Lanier, and Eric Lanier; and aunts, Rita Duncan and Glenda Miller.

He is survived by his best friend and close companion, Alice King; mother, Annette Coulson; brother, Jason Coulson; brother-in-law, Jeffery McCarthy; nephews, Nate Jackson and Troy Baker; niece, Carlena Dutton; eight stepchildren, Dillon, Hope, Klurrisa, Andrew, Brandon Strickland, Eric Wilder, Justin, and Austin; uncles, Kurt Lanier (Katie), Howard Curtis (Mary), and George Coulson (Barbara); Aunts, Linda Freeman, Sara Davis and Melissa; good friend and mentor, Eric King (Miranda); and many friends and extended family members.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Hortense Community Cemetery.
