Jo Mitchell Rykard, 84, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2020, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA, after a long illness. Born in Omega, Georgia, on January 9, 1937, to Bemon and Aline Mitchell, she was a graduate of Omego High School. She lived most of her adult life in Brunswick and retired from Moore, Stephens and Tiller Accounting Firm at age seventy. She loved to sew, fish, and read. She and her husband, Larry, loved to travel, including camping across the country and traveling internationally. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Zack Fenn and her second husband, Charles Larry Rykard; sister, Helen Strickland; and three brothers, Walker, Floyd and Richard Mitchell. She is survived by her children, Diane Lord (Joel) of Statesboro, Zack Fenn, Jr., of Waynesville, Joseph Fenn of Long Island, NY, and Mitchell Rykard (Tommie) of Midway; one grandson, Joel Lord, Jr. (Tamara) of Sanford, NC; three granddaughters, Kelli Lord of Statesboro, Caroline Rykard of Midway, and Caitlyn Rykard of Midway; two great-grandsons, C.J. Oglesby and Fenn Altman; sisters in law, Harriet Walker (George) of Brunswick and Carol Mitchell of Columbus, GA; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 10 am, Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 am with Reverend Rick Mitchell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo Street, Statesboro, GA 30458.
