IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kevin Dale
Posey
January 22, 1964 – May 26, 2023
Kevin Dale Posey, 59, passed away at Southeast Georgia Health System on May 26, 2023. Kevin was born on January 22, 1964, in La Plata MD, to Jerry and Mary (Kelly) Posey. He joined the Navy and deployed on the very same day that he graduated from Essex High School, class of 1983. Kevin wanted to be a career Navy man aboard the USS Milwaukee and the USS LaMoure County, but after sustaining injuries he was medically discharged.
Kevin then became a landscaper. His wife, Maria Stewart-Posey, frequently joked that she married him so that he would plant pretty flowers for her. Kevin most recently worked in the garden center of Lowe's, then transferred to the plumbing section until his health issues resulted in disability.
Kevin enjoyed Civil War reenacting with the 22nd NC infantry and the 2nd MD infantry. He also enjoyed reading Civil War history books, and rooting for his favorite football team, the Arizona Cardinals.
Kevin was a beloved, talented artist with the SSI Rocks group and had his own site, Fans of Kevin Posey to share his amazing artistry. Kevin enjoyed hanging out with his "girls", Georgia Sky and Carolina Storm, his Great Danes, while rock painting.
He will be greatly missed by his family; his brothers, Dean Posey, Darren (Tanetta) Posey, Chuck Forrester and his sister, Karen (Sam) Moon; his brother in arms, Leroy (Shari) Nicholson; his children, Mary Posey (fiancé Randall) of Longview Tx, and Fielding (Josey) Posey of Brunswick, GA; his bonus children, Jeremiah Stewart, Levi (Courtney) Stewart, Montana (Jessica) Stewart, Dalton Doehring, and Paul Lawyer; his grandchildren Amber, Ashton, Remington, Dayton, Lauralei, Landon, Ella and Kevin was looking forward to the birth of Nykyrian; and he will be missed by the rock painting group.
