Lawton "Buddy" Woodcock, 82, of Darien passed away at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick on Thursday, June 3, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born February 9, 1939, in Patterson, GA, to J.L. and Dorothy Davis Woodcock, Lawton was a Marine Corps veteran. He retired in 1999 from Hercules, where he was an electrician, and his favorite hobby was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid NASCAR fan, Lawton's favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr., He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Foy and Mildred Kimbrell; brother, J.E. Woodcock; sister, Lucy Roberson; and daughter-in-law, Stacy Woodcock. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Kimbrell Woodcock of Darien; sons and daughters-in-law, Doug Woodcock (Valerie) of Woodbine and Kevin Woodcock (Deena) of Patterson; grandchildren, Shelby Williams (Matt) of St. Marys and Macy Woodcock of Patterson; great-grandchildren, Callan Williams and Logan Williams of St. Marys; brothers, Tommy Woodcock (Lynn) of Brunswick, Ray Woodcock of St. Marys, and Jerry Woodcock of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will begin at 11 am, Monday, June 7, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Darien. Visitation will prior to the service, beginning at 10 am. Burial with Military Honors will be in Brunswick Memorial Park. Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
