Leon Vernard Hall went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 30, 2022. Vernard was born on January 20, 1926, in Appling County, Georgia to Elam Dewey Hall and Sophie Ogden Hall. He is preceded in death by his parents; by his sisters Juanita Hall Tillman (Elmo), Jessie Hall Pearson (Hugh); and brothers Robert Cecil Hall (Mary Ina), Jack Dewey Hall (Patricia), and Estus Jerome Hall (Lucretia), and numerous family members. He married the love of his life Merlene Rentz on June 11, 1948, in Baxley, Georgia. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary this year. He is survived by his wife, Merlene Hall; children Kenny Hall and Vicki Hall Barnes (Kendall); his grandchildren Aston Barnes (Ashley), Blake Barnes (Deborah), and Tori Cobb (Kyle); his great-grandchildren Giovanni Rodi, Dominic Rodi, Kaydence Collum, Luke Barnes, Jasper Barnes, Andrew Barnes, Mason Cobb, and Jase Cobb. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Aaron E.(Sam) Rentz,Jr. and two sisters-in-laws, Kathleen Rentz Carter, Quillan(Penny) Rentz Garnett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He retired from LCP Chemical Company in 1984 after a 30-year career. He was an active member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 15 years and served as a deacon for 67 years there and at various churches. Vernard was known as someone who never met a stranger and talked to everyone about his Lord and Savior. He loved to fish and play golf and was a much-loved husband, father, and granddad. To know this godley man was to love him.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am October 10th at Pine Ridge Baptist church. A visitation will be held at 10:00 one hour prior to service. Pastors Ed Hurst and John Rentz will be officiating. A private graveside service will occur after the memorial service.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Men's 70 and up Sunday School Class.

The family would like to express thanks to Georgia Hospice Care for their love and care of Vernard during his final months. We would also like to thank his caring healthcare providers for their care during his life: Dr. Mark Watkins and Dr. Michael Butler and Ascension Coastal Cardiology staff; Dr. Antonio Moran and Georgia Oncology Hematology Consultants staff; Dr. Timothy Jamieson and Southeast Georgia Health System Radiation Oncology staff; and Micah Lancaster PA-C and Summit & Georgia Dermatology staff.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Social Hall Fund at 15 Nimitz Drive, Brunswick, Georgia 31520.

Golden Isles Cremation Center/Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
