Born October 23, 1927 in Schenectady, NY. Son of the late Michael James and Beatrice (Audet) Murray, he died July 31, 2006 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Georgia . Having spent most of his life in Schenectady , he moved to south Florida in 1977 with subsequent moves to Avon Park, Florida (1992), Crystal River, Florida (1997), and St. Mary''s (2002). He was Catholic. A graduate of St. Columba''s High School in Schenectady , he served in the U. S. Army during WW II as a supply sergeant. He worked for many years as manager of appliance retail sales for Two Guys department store in Schenectady and as store manager for Rite Aid drug stores in south Florida. While in Avon Park , he was a founding member of Moose Lodge 2949. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Alan, and two brothers, Ronald and Kenneth. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth, daughters Mary Rogowski (Stanley) of Woodbine, GA, Kathleen Livingston of Schenectady, NY, Susan Kirk (Michael) of Crystal River, FL, sons Leonard A. Murray, Jr. (Gale) of Tamarac, FL, Timothy J. Murray (Renea) of Avon Park, FL, Thomas J. Murray (Pam) of Davie, FL, Terence J. Murray (Cheri) of Crystal River, FL, brother Fr. James Murray, OSB, of Peru, IL, 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Our Lady Star of the Sea in St. Mary''s. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525. Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
