Linda Sue Chapman Strayhorn, 79, of Brunswick, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022, with her loving family by her side.
She was born February 9, 1943, in LaFayette, Georgia, to Fred B. and Ola Irene (Shannon) Chapman, graduated from Chattanooga Valley High School in 1961, and was a resident of Brunswick most of her life. Linda met Hugh Strayhorn in Brunswick and they married November 19, 1964, shortly before Hugh joined the Air Force. After traveling for his career, they returned to Brunswick where they made their home and made numerous friends. Linda retired from the medical office of Dr. David Heine after 18 years as his insurance and billing specialist. An accomplished bridge player, she played in several bridge groups in the area and was a gifted artist who studied under Susan Horton. Linda was known for her excellent cooking skills and the Sunday Night Supper Club.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Hugh Strayhorn; her brother, Larry B Chapman; and a grandson, Tyler Clark.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Linkenhoker (Kevin) of Brunswick; sister, Shelia Vincent of Ackworth, GA; grandsons, Ridge Clark of Greenville, SC, and William Linkenhoker (Alexandria Galloway) of Pickens, SC; granddaughter, Ashley Clark of Clemson, SC; four great-grandchildren, Markus, Jimi Willow, Addalynn, and Kolbe; sister-in-law, Patricia McCollum of Atlanta; brother-in-law, Ronald Strayhorn of Brunswick; and numerous friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 11 am, Saturday, April 2, 2022, in the chapel at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home with Funeral Services beginning at 12 Noon.
