Obituary

Lynda Higginbotham Rape, 87, of Brunswick passed away on July 2, 2026. A lifelong resident of Brunswick, she was born on June 27, 1939, to the late Ballard Higginbotham and Georgia Wainwright Higginbotham.

Lynda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Michael “Terry” Rape, and her niece, Kayce Strickland Russell. She is survived by her children; Hal (Cassie) Rape and Joni Rape Crane. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren; Wesley Crane, Kelly Crane (Matt) Joyner, Maddie (John) Harry and Mary Jane Yarbrough. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren; Hayden Chapman, Maisie Crane, and Kimsie Crane and two great-great grandchildren, Carmen and Carlee Crane. Additional loved family members include Sandra Rape (Neil) Strickland, Cori Strickland (John) Jernigan, and her cousin, Pat Siler Simpson.

Lynda dedicated many years of service to the Glynn County School System, from which she retired. She attended First Baptist Church of Brunswick. Known by all of her grandchildren as “Nanny”, Lynda will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love and presence shaped the lives of those around her.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the compassionate staff at Heritage Oaks Nursing Home on St. Simons Island for the care and kindness shown to Lynda.

A graveside service will be Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in Chapel Park Cemetery with Rev. Jim Crandall officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Affinis Hospice.
