IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Poschl
Martin
January 18, 1943 – August 2, 2024
Margie Poschl Martin, 81, of Brunswick, GA passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024 with her family by her side.
She was born in Pinewald, NJ on January 18, 1943 to the late Sara and Charlie Poschl. Her mother described her as mischievous, with a devilish grin and a mind of her own. She graduated Toms River High School in 1961. One of her early jobs was helping her parents at the Bradley Diner, which is probably why she had no interest in cooking, a trait passed down to all the women in her family. She went on to provide for her family by working for 35 years at the New Jersey Bell phone company. Restless in her retirement, she went back to work at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery. Then, in 2007, she retired again and moved to Brunswick to be closer to her grandchildren.
Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her brother, Joey. She is survived by her sister, Shirley, 3 children, Deb (Jim), Jackie, and Michael (Jenn), 6 grandchildren, Sara (George), Chelsea (Chris), Aubrey, Angel, Connor, and Jamie, 4 great grandchildren, River, Wren, Cale, and Asher, her nieces Terri (Kevin) and Michele and their families. She had many pets in her life, but Gilbert and Fuzzball were her constant companions when she had to spend more time at home.
Margie was devoted to her family and friends. A selfless caregiver and hard worker, she always put everyone before herself. She was strong, hopeful, and resilient, no matter what setback came her way. In the end, when the cancer got the best of her voice and her hearing, she could still make her family laugh with a well-timed eye roll. Her dry sense of humor and stubbornness have been passed down through the generations. She was a lover of all sports, especially her Yankees, and as competitive as they come. She was an excellent blackjack player, great crossword puzzler, and ran an NFL football pool. She loved her role as GGMA most of all – never missing a game, vacation, or a chance to be with her grands and great-grands. She took her final breaths at home at Pappy's Place and will be missed so deeply.
A Memorial Service will be held for Margie on Thursday, August 22 at 3:00 pm at Community Church Brunswick Campus at the Glynn County Mall. No one hated a dress more than Margie, so please dress casually.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Church Brunswick Campus, 2700 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, GA 31522 or No Kill Glynn County Animal Shelter, 241 Florida Street, St. Simons Island, GA 31522 would be appreciated.
