Obituary

Margie Earline Shelton Anderson (Marge), a resident of Brunswick, Georgia, departed this life on Sunday, December 23, 2012, and joined her family in heaven. Born on February 27, 1928, Marge was the first of ten children of Clay and Mary Edith Shelton. She left school after the 8th grade to work in a doll factory to help support her family. At the age of 50, Marge went back to school and earned her high school diploma. She was such an inspiration to the faculty and students that she was chosen to give the student address at her graduation. When most are retiring, Marge went to work. She is best known for her work as a volunteer coordinator for Map International, where she served for over eleven years. She was affectionately dubbed "Marge in Charge" and sometimes "Sarge Marge" because she could get the job done. After retiring from MAP, Marge continued to volunteer at MAP from time to time, and was also a volunteer at the local hospital. She was an active member of New Life Sanctuary and also attended Golden Isles Church of God. Marge was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with all of the family news. She loved getting together with family to eat, share stories and play games. Marge never met a stranger. She was a wonderful example of faith and perseverance to her daughters. Proverbs 31:28 says it best: "Her children arise up, and call her blessed." Marge was preceded in death by her mother and father; her daughter, Valerie Jean Anderson Mead; her son, Joseph Matthew Anderson; sister, Emma Jean Shelton; brothers, Billy Ray Shelton, Paul L. Shelton and Clay Shelton Jr.; and grandson Brian Joseph Cox. She is survived by 4 daughters: Faye (Harry) Cox of Brunswick, Georgia: Gail (Dwight) Spivey of Fenton, Michigan; Peggy (Perry) James of Milledgeville, Georgia; and Edye (Jim) Kerns of Hazlehurst, Georgia. She is also survived by a brother Windle L. Shelton, of Jeffersontown, Kentucky; and sisters Annetta Neeley and Patricia Durham of North Port, Florida; Donna Kramer of Novato, California; and Brenda Shelton of Acworth, Georgia.
