Martha Etta Dorsey (Horton), age 89, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on March 12, 2026, in Brunswick, Georgia. She was born on November 17, 1936, in Brunswick. As the proud wife of an Air Force veteran, she spent many years away from Brunswick returning to the community she loved and called home in 1974.
Martha was a devoted wife to her late husband, Wallace H. Dorsey, who preceded her in death on September 10, 2006. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. She was also predeceased by her son, Charles H. Dorsey, her grandson, Michael Story and her great granddaughter Isabella Lavarias.
She is survived by her children: Phillip Dorsey (Pam) of Fayetteville, Georgia; Mary White (Johnny) of Brunswick, Georgia; and Cindy Cargile (Bobby) of Brunswick, Georgia. Martha was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, Celeste, Adriene (John), Chuck, Matt, Charity (Buck), Dan (Bianca) and a cherished great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. Her family brought her immense joy and were the heart of her life.
Martha was a devoted Christian and a long-time member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She found great comfort and inspiration in studying her Bible and lived as an example of unwavering devotion to God. Her sense of humor and strength were hallmarks of her character, endearing her to all who knew her.
Martha had a passion for crocheting and spent countless hours creating beautiful pieces that reflected both her creativity and love for others. Her handiwork will remain treasured keepsakes for those fortunate enough to receive them.
Her legacy is one of faith, resilience, and unconditional love for her family. Martha’s memory will continue to inspire those who knew her to live with kindness and grace.
The funeral service will be held on March 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 4407 US-17 in Brunswick. The viewing will be from 1:00 to 3:00 prior to the service. Burial in Brunswick Memorial Park to immediately follow the service.
