Mary Ellen Bennett, 88, of Brunswick passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Sears Manor Nursing Home in Brunswick. She had lived most of her life in Brunswick and was a homemaker. She was a pioneer of the early days of Brunswick taking care of many families during and after World War II. She was a loving mother and a best friend. She was known to all those who loved her as 'Big Moma.' She was employed by the Brunswick Manufacturing Co. for 12 years and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the United Pentecostal Church. She is survived by her three daughters: Anne Lena Burgess, Donna Jean Boyd and Cindy Diane Fawcett, all of Brunswick; one son, Jack G. Bennett of Brunswick; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers are: Joseph Fawcett, Johnny Cross, Kenny Burgess, Keith Ponsell, Andy Bennett and Jack Bennett. Honorary pallbearers are the Nursing staff and CMA at Sears Manor, Debra Parker and Dr. Lawson & Staff. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Humane Society. Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
