Mary Ellen Arnett Howell, 93, died peacefully on Jan. 8, 2020, at Senior Care Center, Brunswick, Georgia. She was holding the hand of her faithful, loving caregiver, Karen Drury Gatch, when she let go of Karen and went straight into the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Born in Jesup, Georgia, on March 24, 1926, to the late Arthur Leroy Arnett and Patsy Reail Clifton Arnett. She married Bill Howell on Nov 24, 1962. She was also preceded in death by two daughters: Mary Ester Stewart and Linda Grace Stewart, both infants, husband Bill Howell, sisters, Alice Arnett Crosby and Margret Arnett Burney, brother: J.L. Arnett; nieces: Reail Faulk and Diane Shoemaker, and nephew John Burney.

Others whose lives she touched are great-nieces: Becky Oliver, Christa Strickland, Karen Joyner, Angeline Vann, Suzanne Sapp, Ashley Johnson, and great-nephews: Wayne Strickland, Mitch Strickland, David Johnson, Brad Johnson.
Miss Ellen was a member of Christian Renewal Church where she worked in the Loaves and Fishes Ministry. She was known as a prayer warrior, supporting many, and always come boldly to the throne of grace for forgiveness. She had learned that 'God loves sinners, more than the sinner loves sin' (Quote from Billy Graham)
Miss Ellen loved to sing and shout as she listened to her hundreds of gospel ..78' vinyls as they spun on her turntable for hours a day. You also might catch her dancing a jig in her kitchen as she listened to country music! She loved babies and children, and her poodle, Missy. She enjoyed cooking cakes and delivering them to unexpected people. When she was 75, she was determined to learn how to use a computer and with the patient help of her nephew, Wayne Strickland, she learned. After that, she wanted every new electronic piece of equipment that came out. She loved taking photographs and has left behind in numerous albums. Each time a new camera came on the market, she bought it. Her shelves were packed with tapes and CD's, featuring her favorite preachers/teachings that she used in her personal 'Tape Ministry' for 27 years. Miss Ellen loved to travel and didn't blink an eye when driving through New York City during rush hour.
Including her caregiver, Karen Drury Gatch, Miss Ellen had faithful visitors, some coming weekly: Ann Conner, Chris Boggs, Jackie Strickland, Carol Green, Wanda Taylor, and Louise Galloway, and more.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brunswick Memorial Park who will hold her services on Thursday, Jan. 16, with visitation at 1 p.m. and the funeral at 2 p.m., with Christian Renewal pastor, Rev. Bill Ligon and Mark Linton officiating.
