IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Elizabeth
Hurst
March 27, 1944 – March 18, 2025
Born in Alma Georgia to Jim and Mary Lee
Taylor.
Mary spent her lifetime between the city of
Jacksonville, Florida and the still small
towns of Georgia. Something always
pulling her back to the place of her birth.
She was a resident of Pruitt Health of
Southeast Georgia. A special "Thank you"
to the staff who took such great care of
her in her final years.
Mary was a student of Andrew Jackson
Highschool. She held numerous positions
in her lifetime. All giving her the
opportunity to care for others. Even as a
resident of the nursing home, she took
special care of those that resided there
with her.
She is preceded in death by her husband
Walton "Red" Hurst, parents Jim Taylor and
Mary Lee Morris, sister Patricia Sikes and
first born, David Marvin Johns.
She is survived by her brother Jimmy
Taylor, sister Jean Simmons, daughters
Karen Johns and Diana "Bug" Bakai, son
Walton "Chip" Hurst.
Her children blessed her with 16
grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and
1 great-great.
Mary passed away peacefully in the early
hours of the morning. Apropos to when
she would have been sitting at the kitchen
table,, drinking coffee and smoking
cigarettes with her Late Husband "Red"
We were thankful to be with with her in the
days leading up to that moment. The
moment her soul would transcend into a
place of precious peace. Peace she so
longed for. We will cherish the sweet
evanescent memories each one of us has
of her. Carrying them with us in Life. Giving
us peace, in our own journey.
Rest easy, Momma.
