Mary Frances (Fran) Joseph, 93, of Brunswick, GA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 21st, 2017. A native of Gordon County, Georgia, Fran had been a resident of Glynn County most of her life first coming to the area after graduation from Sugar Valley High School in 1943. She was born June 25, 1924, to the late Fate Walraven and the late Ludie Watkins Walraven. During her active years, she was a member of the Woman's Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). She was a Friend of the Library and a Pink Lady at the local hospital.
When Fran was less able to be active, she used one of her great loves to continue to serve the community. Skilled in crochet since she learned her craft at the age of 9, she began making afghans, lap, and baby blankets to be freely given to friends, family members, and strangers alike. Nothing gave her more pleasure than the idea of serving by giving with no strings attached. Both service and gratitude marked her life with joy and grace that never failed to attend her.
In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Frank E. (Ernie) Joseph; her brothers A.B. Walraven, Frank Walraven, Doyle Walraven, Boyd Walraven and her sister, Ruby Bob Black. Survivors include her son and daughter, Henry E. Joseph and Celeste A. Joseph of Brunswick, GA; brother Jim Walraven (Joan), of Sugar Valley, GA and sister, Ludie Faye Floyd also of Sugar Valley, GA as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews on both sides of the family.
Special thanks and much gratitude go to the staff of Hospice of the Golden Isles, the staffs of both the Outpatient Lab and Infusion Center of SGHS Brunswick Campus as well as, and especially to, Dr. Salim Osta, Mrs. Jan Osta, and Ismael Osta, P.A. for tender care of our mother over many years.
There will be no formal service of remembrance and burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Golden Isles Cremation Center.
