In the early morning of the 29th day of August, 2016, the beautiful spirit of Mary Emma Paxton winged its way to God. Born along the Sunflower River in the Mississippi Delta and raised on a farm with her 8 siblings in the high country at Hohenlinden, Mississippi, Mary was the last surviving child of Baldwin and Taffie Gore Griffin of Webster County, Mississippi. Mary was married to her high school classmate, Haven Paxton. Together they made an adventurous life for themselves, first as a Navy family for 29 years, then as part of the Sea Island family for 24 years. Mary will be most loved and remembered in Glynn County for her dedicated service to the residents of the Medical Arts Center of Coastal Georgia where she led a praise and worship service every Tuesday for 29 years. We can justly say of her, she fought the good fight, she kept the faith. Enter now into the joys of thy Lord. She leaves behind a husband, Haven; a daughter, Pamela; grandchildren, Julie Mae and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Kaiser and Ellie; a niece, Sallie Kay; and a host of dear friends to mourn their loss. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 3, 2016 in the Chapel of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
