Mattie Louise, 93, a long-time resident of Ridgeville, GA died February 26, 2021, she was born January 11, 1928 to Samuel Ira and Sarah McIntosh Reames in Ridgeville, Georgia. She is predeceased by two siblings. Brother, Samuel I. Reames, II married to Mary Ann Paul and sister, Sarah, married to Sam Houston. At a young age, she trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She graduated from Darien High School, North Georgia Jr. College, Barrett School of Nursing- University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, and Emmaus Bible School, Chicago, IL. She met her husband, Frederick Gladstone, from Chicago, IL, in July of 1952 at Lake Geneva Youth Camp, in Wisconsin. They married July 11, 1953, in Darien, GA. They lived briefly in Chicago. They began serving the Lord together in many places. The first few years included living in New Mexico, Arizona while working with Native American Indians. They then relocated to Charleston, SC then Savannah, GA then finally settling down in Ridgeville, GA where they lived, but traveled extensively as they served the Lord. They were blessed with the following children: Frederick J. Gladstone (Marilyn Nix Gladstone) of Cairo, GA, John T., Mary Groezinger of Spanish Wells, Bahamas, David A. Gladstone of Ridgeville, GA, Paul T. Gladstone. They were also blessed with grandchildren: Cole, Colin, Cameron Gladstone, Johsua and Jessy Groezinger, Peter and Joy Higgs, Julia and Jonathan Groezinger, Andrew, and Hannah Gladstone. She had five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She and her husband, Fred, served the Lord for many years and in many places. She later became involved in the Lower Altamaha Historical Society, where she also served as President. While involved, she spearheaded and served with others on a committee to accumulate and publish an extensive book of the cemeteries and gravesites throughout McIntosh County. She enjoyed many activities, but history, genealogy research, and archeology became her great interests in the later years. Memorial service information will be announced at a later date.
