Maurice Albert Crenshaw, III, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on December 29, 2020. He was born in Knoxville, TN, on May 27, 1936, where he grew up and attended the University of Tennessee.
After moving to Macon, GA, he became vice president of Cherokee National Life Insurance Company and later was a partner in an insurance executive recruitment firm.
With his sons, Jim and Gregg, he was active in Little League and Boy Scouts, serving as Scoutmaster and forming Explorer Post 10. His love of nature and the environment led him to become a charter member of the Ocmulgee Audubon Society, serving as field trip chairman and leading many memorable trips to Sapelo Island. He was a past commodore of the Oconee Sailing and Yacht Club and was on the board of directors of TERN, the Environmental Resources Network, a non-game program for the DNR.
In 2003, he, his wife, Carter, and grandson, Leif, moved to Brunswick to enjoy their beloved Golden Isles.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maurice A. Crenshaw, Jr, and Louise Mary Crenshaw, and his son, Jim.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Carter Crenshaw; son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Kate Crenshaw; grandson, Leif Hillary Crenshaw (son of Jim); brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Julie Crenshaw; and sister, Anne Crenshaw Magruder.
A family service in Macon will be planned.
