Obituary

Michael Wayne Lariscy, 66, peacefully passed away at home Thursday, April 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Millen, to James Arthur and Bernice Marie Joyner Lariscy, he was raised in Millen and Sylvania. He played football for Screven County High School and graduated in 1976. After moving to Brunswick for work, he met Pamela Peebles, the girl he would marry, at a softball game.

A firefighter for the City of Brunswick, Mike retired as Deputy Chief after twenty distinguished years of service which included an award for Valor, after saving children from a sinking boat. He was the owner and operator of two businesses, Lariscy Paint Company and Lariscy Vending, and was a maintenance technician for several companies before his retirement in August of 2024.

Mike was a hardworking family man and softball dad who served as coach, driver, bookkeeper, and whatever else was needed for all three of his daughters. He adored his grandchildren and loved being their BooBoo. With a nearly photographic memory, he enjoyed talking about sports stats, music, and history. He also enjoyed reading.

He was preceded in death by two of his siblings, Inez Lariscy Burke and James J. Lariscy of Waynesboro; his beloved mother-in-law, Geraldine Peebles; and son-in-law, Jake McHargue.

Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pamela Peebles Lariscy; daughters, Kellen Lariscy of Brunswick, Karmin Lariscy Miller (Drew), of Acworth, GA, and Kandace McHargue of Brunswick; grandchildren, Easton McHargue of Brunswick and Brantley and Sidney Miller of Acworth; sisters, Carolyn Lariscy Crider (Preston) of Micanopy, FL, and Angie Lariscy Bragg of Millen; brother, Larry Lariscy (Terri) of Waynesboro; aunts, Mary Bird of Augusta, Miriam Lariscy of Rocky Ford, Bea Lariscy of Statesboro, Dott Prevatt of Rocky Ford, and Shirley Taylor of Millen; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 pm.
