Mickey passed from this world today to attain the promise of the Cross of Jesus, Eternal Life with our Heavenly Father. Kindly pray for the repose of his soul.
Mickey was predeceased by his parents, William A and Alice Jackson Taylor; his brothers, Thomas Andre' and William Alexander; his sister, Mary Alice Taylor Payne and his wife Judy Sapp Taylor.
Those left to remember and celebrate Mickey's life are his son John Allen Taylor, John's mother, Nancy Muse; his brothers, Robert A Taylor (Pat), Gary A Taylor (Kris), David A Taylor (Mary Ellen) and his sisters, Nancy Taylor Pond (Dick); Kathy Taylor Davis (Jeff); Doloris A Taylor and many cousins, nieces and nephews in Brunswick Georgia, Florida and Indiana.
Mickey was the third of ten children. He definitely was born with an entrepreneurial spirit. He was selling newspapers at age five. He sold soft drinks and popcorn at military ballgames and raked yards for the officers on the military bases his dad was stationed. He was the captain of the Pacelli Catholic High School football team in Columbus, Georgia. When his dad received orders to a new duty station in Mickey's senior year, he got a job working pre-dawn hours so he could stay, work, go to school, football practice and graduate with his class.
Mickey's personality was perfect for sales work. He enjoyed people, sharing ideas and steady work. He sold advertising for WTOC American Family Broadcasting in Savannah, GA for many years and later at WJCL. His most enjoyable years were spent with Carriage Tours of Savannah and Jack North's "Murder Afloat" productions. If you were lucky enough to be on his horse drawn carriage tour of Savannah, you were treated to a personal comedy club version, mostly true, of the history, alive and still sizzling, in the squares of Savannah. And, if you boarded the Dinner Cruise of "Murder Afloat" you might have discovered, by the time you had dessert and your after-dinner drink that Mickey's character was the one "who done it!"
He was one of many, but not one like him. He was a rascal that was loved and will be missed!
Services will be held at a later date to accommodate family travel.
