Mickey Dewayne O'Neal walked into the arms of Jesus on September 13, 2021, after an extended illness. Mickey was born on September 12, 1958, in Waycross, GA to Ivy and Doris O'Neal. The family moved to Brunswick when Mickey was 4 years old. After leaving school, Mickey entered the workforce where he became a carpenter by trade. Mickey worked for several different companies in Glynn County where he was able to hone his skills and perfect his craft. He enjoyed working with his hands and seeing the finished result of hard work. Mickey also enjoyed listening to music, spending time with family and friends, and helping those in need. Mickey was loved by all who knew him. He was a wonderful brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy and Doris Gunter O'Neal; his brother and hero, Charles O'Neal; and his sister, Glenda O'Neal Ward; and his brother-in-law, C.M. Roberson.
Mickey is survived by his sisters, M. Ann Roberson, and Linda Smith (Gene), all of Brunswick; his aunt, Betty Gunter Gresham (Damon) of Longview, TX; Brother-in-law, Ernie Ward, of Brunswick; Sister-in-law, Pamella O'Neal of Woodbine; a very special friend, Anna McDonald, of Brunswick; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him terribly.
The family would like to thank all those at Southeast Georgia Health System for their care of Mickey during his illness. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.
A celebration of Mickey's life will be held September 25, 2021, at Golden Isles Christian Church. The family will greet visitors at 1pm and the service will follow at 2pm. A private interment will be held at a later date.
Due to COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and strongly encourage you to wear a face covering while inside the church. Masks will be available at the door. The family would like anyone who doesn't feel comfortable attending the services that they understand and that they covet your prayers during this time.
