Mike Bowen, 65, of Brunswick, died Tuesday at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus. He was a native of Brunswick and was educated in the Glynn County Public School System. He was a graduate of Glynn Academy. After several small jobs, Mike was employed with Sheffield Distributing Company as Warehouse manager and Sales retiring after forty-four years of service. He was known by all as being completely dedicated to his family, employer, and the community in which he lived. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and an astute investor. Survivors are his wife, Diane Skarpalezos Bowen; a daughter, Sandy Bowen Autry; a sister, Elaine B. McDonald of Brunswick; a brother, Jerry Alan Bowen, all of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard M. Bowen, a son, Peter Mike Bowen, a niece, Margie Mae Bowen, and a nephew, Alan McDonald. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment following in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery in the Garden of Acacia. The Rev. Edward S. Williams will officiate and speaking will be Chance Gornto. Serving as pallbearers are Phillip Sheffield, Bill Wetherington, Zeke West, George Alexander, Charles Caldwell and R.V. Cate. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Williams, Wayne Sheffield , Gary Sheffield, Ike Maulden, Al Thrower, Rusty McGee, Billy Gibbs, John Scott, Paul Sikes, Jughead Taylor, Mike Bearden, Randy Dyson, Bruce Franklin, Terry Loper, Gene and Andrew Spaulding, Guy Still, Jake Anderson, Greg Rolland, Bill McDonald, Frankie Stopka, Brian Drew, the employees of Scarboro Oxygen Services, Drs. Herman Levy, Thomas Tucker and Michael Butler, Allen Hampton and Kathleen (Mac) McIntyre, RN. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery and Funeral Home.
