Obituary

Millard 'Paul' Lightfoot, Jr., 73, of Waverly went to be with his Lord Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick. Born in Brunswick, he was the son of Millard, Sr., and Elizabeth Knudsen Lightfoot, a graduate of Glynn Academy Class of 1966 and Georgia Tech University. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as an mechanical engineer for Georgia Pacific (Brunswick Pulp and Paper) for 45 years. After his retirement, he worked as a contract engineer for many years in the Brunswick area. A loving Christian man, Paul was faithful in his service to the Lord and was an active and devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jesup where he served as a Deacon. He also served with The Gideons International. Paul was a gifted musician and artist, a wonderful father and husband, and a kind, loving and humble man. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death parents and his first wife, Cynthia Williamson Lightfoot. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth 'Libby' Shoemaker Lightfoot; sons, William Sean Lightfoot of Waverly and Michael Todd Lightfoot (Jenna) of Brunswick; stepson, Thomas David Knight of Brunswick; Patricia Scoggins (Butch) of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Kaylee Lightfoot and Evelyn Lightfoot; two nephews. A memorial service will begin at 11 am, Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors prior to the service, beginning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, remembrances are suggested to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1618 Waycross Hwy, Jesup, GA 31545.
