IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Muriel Lee
Osburn
May 25, 1931 – March 31, 2025
Muriel Lee Osburn, 93, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away on March 31, 2025. She was born on May 25, 1931, to the late Walter Laurence and Rosa Elizabeth Huggins McLeod.
Muriel married the love of her life, James Henry Osburn, on June 11, 1950, and they began their life together. As a Navy wife, Muriel learned to move often with their young family as her husband was aboard ships sometimes as long as a year at a time. She was very proud of her role as a Navy wife and did an outstanding job of raising their children.
In 1963, Muriel and James moved to Brunswick. While he was stationed at Glynco, GA, Muriel dedicated herself to her work as a homemaker, raising their children and becoming the neighborhood "Mom" to so many. You could always find cookies and something to drink at her home. From cooking and cleaning to hand sewing clothes for her girls, Muriel found true joy and pride in making sure that her family was well taken care of. Her love for her family was unconditional.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Osburn, who passed away in 2000 after 49 years of marriage; her parents, Walter L. and Rosa Huggins McLeod; her brother, McKinley "Mack" McLeod; her only sister, Rosa Louester Moore; as well as a grandson, Karl Eric Weis, and a granddaughter, Sherry Franklin Pender-Davis.
Muriel is survived by her children, Walter James Osburn, Barbara Raye Franklin (Ron), Beverly Kay Weis (Karl), Betty Jean Bright (Chip), and Sue Ellen Dean (Leo); brothers, Robert Lee McLeod, Ronald Phillip McLeod, and Wendell Woodrow McLeod; a brother-in-law, Eugene "Gene" Osburn; sisters-in-law, Marie Frances Osburn and Mary Ruth Osburn; as well as 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Muriel, or Nana as she was called by her grandchildren, will be missed greatly. She loved her family and the children she became "Mom" to dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests giving in Muriel's name to the charity of your choice, or to any no-kill animal shelter.
The family invites friends and family to pay their respects on April 8, 2025, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home at 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service beginning at 5:00.
Nana Osburn's legacy will live on for life in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
John 14:1-3
14 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Brunswick Memorial Park is honored to have assisted the Osburn family.
