Obed "Chuck" Newton Lamb, Jr. died Monday at his residence in Jesup. He was born in Brunswick and was a graduate of Glynn Academy. He was retired from Hercules after 35 years of service, and also retired from the Okefenokee Technical College and the Altamaha Technical College as an instructor. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jesup, and was a veteran serving in the U S Army where he received a WWII Victory Medal and the Occupation Medal for Italy.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Crosby Lamb; a son, Nathan O. Lamb; a close niece, Sybil (Roger) Powell; step-children, Kim (Ed) Westberry; Mike Crosby; Thomas (Robin) Crosby; and Kris (Roy) Beall. Special friends, Joe and Molly Combs, and Ed and Betty Bryant. 13 Grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Obed N.Lamb, Sr and Lola Yarbrough Lamb; a sister, Edith Lamb Broughton; and his first wife Hazel Hargraves Lamb.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2PM in the chapel of the Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home, burial following in the Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Brother Vann Dempsey and Pastor Bob Richardson officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral services in the chapel of the funeral home. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund in Jesup, Ga.
