Perry "Magic Man" Rankin, age 63 passed away Aug. 26, 2020 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Ga. He was born July 7, 1957 in New Albany, Indiana to William J. Rankin and Bernice Larimore Bennett. He graduated from New Albany High School and attended Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana with studies in Industrial Engineering Technology. He was employed by Southeast Georgia Health System as an Engineering Technician. Perry was a union musician drummer. He loved all music, especially rock and Christian Contemporary music. He enjoyed playing drums with Contemporary Christian Musicians. He was fond of working on classic cars and building racing motors. He especially loved riding his motorcycle. Perry adored his wife, and family, his friends, his country and above all, Jesus Christ his Savior and Lord. Perry was preceded in death by his father, William John Rankin. Perry is survived by his wife, Elaine Howell Rankin, his beloved step-children Rebecca Summerlin (Bobby), Rachel Hendricks and Richard Hendricks (Alex); Grandchildren Jazmin (Zach), Christopher, Chassady, Camden, Brinley, Cooper, Carter, Curtis, Maggie, Perry, Aida, Desiree, Peyton, and Elijah; his mother, Bernice Bennett, and three sisters, Vickie Powell, Penny Fowler (Tim) and Teresa Beckman (Rick); many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. His best and forever friend, Rickey Borden. Visitation will be at Brunswick Memorial Funeral Park Monday, August 31, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Graveside services will be Tuesday, September 1, at 10:00 am at Chapel Park Cemetery, 1180 Cate Road, Brunswick, Ga. Pallbearers are Jazmin Nagorski, Christopher Summerlin, Curtis Johns, Camden Hendricks, Brinley Hendricks, Chassady Summerlin, and Zack Nagorski. The family expresses appreciation to Dr. John Blumer, Dr. Sherman Stevenson, Dr. Coleman Sudduth, Dr. Abraham Cheong, Dr. Matt Certain, Dr. John Shaner, Dr. Timothy Jamieson, Melissa Toler, Southeast Georgia Health System Cancer Care Center nursing staff, Caregivers and staff of Hospice of the Golden Isle for the heartfelt and professional care given to Perry.
