Randi Burkhart, of Brunswick, passed away at age 66 on July 27, 2017 after a year plus battle with cancer.
Randi was born Randianne Ziegler on July 18, 1951 in New York City. She grew up on Long Island in Valley Stream, N.Y. Her parents were George and Marcia Ziegler. She became Randianne Roberts during her teenage years when her family name changed for business reasons. Randi was an honor student in high school, excelling in mathematics and after graduating in 1969 completed one year at Ithaca College and later took some courses at Queens College.
In 1971 she met Joseph Burkhart of Oceanside, N.Y., an air force veteran who had recently returned from several tours of duty in Vietnam. Two years later, they would be married and move to Brunswick, Ga. where she lived the remainder of her life.
Randi worked for Atlantic Southeast Airlines in Brunswick Airport for 27 years, rising to the rank of supervisor. She like her mother was also in the antiques business and for many years she and Joseph were antique dealers and show coordinators for the Saint Simons Antique Show. Randi was an avid gardener who loved to grow vegetables and beautiful flowers. She was also a great lover of animals, and had a fondness of driving sportscars. She also cared for her mother for almost a decade.
Preceding her in death were her mother and father, George and Marcia Roberts. She is survived by her husband Joseph Burkhart; brother Ethan Roberts of Jacksonville, Fl.; as well as many nieces and nephews, sister and brother in laws and friends who loved her. She will be greatly missed.
