Ray Nelson, 84, of Brunswick passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Thursday, surrounded by his family. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and was an Executive Vice President for GMAC Financial. He retired out of New York, and moved to St. Simons Island 30 years ago. Mr. Nelson was an avid golfer and member of Sea Palms Golf Resort. He served in the U.S. Army, overseas, during WWII. He loved sing-a-longs with his family and enjoyed gardening. He was a most beloved husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Reno Nelson; four children, David Nelson (Luanne), Carol Rodgers (Joe), Scott Nelson (Cheryl), and Julie Kiff (Jerry); twelve grandchildren: Amy, Jodi (Arthur), Lori, Alicia, (Teddie), Jesse (Melissa), Erin (Brandon), Melissa (Shane), Shawna (Scott), Brock, Jamie (Casey), Jaclyn, and Tucker; and twelve great grandchildren.
