Ray M. Tawney Ray M. Tawney, 84, of Brunswick, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Southeast GA Health System of Brunswick. Ray served in the United States Navy for 20 years and was a member of the City of Brunswick law enforcement for 23 years. He was a member of the Golden Isles Horseshoe Association for 15 years. Ray was an avid bowler and coached little league ball for over 10 years. He also loved to garden. Ray was a Charter Member of Golden Isles Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Modina Tawney and 2 brothers. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Freida Tawney; sons Greg Tawney (Freda) and Randall Tawney (Michelle); daughters, Sue Brauda (Jon Abbott), Gail Hanson-Hale (Buddy Hale) and Jane Drury (Cecil "Guy" Drury); 6 grandsons and 5 granddaughters; 8 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Golden Isles Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Alderman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Larry Bruce, Jeff Lord, Darrell Crosby, Harry Lairsey, Sye Thomas and Clarke Wiggins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Marsha Certain, Dr. Matthew Certain, the Staff of 5 Glynn Brunswick Tower of SEGHS, T.C. Cowan, Billy Branch, George Carter, Chris Stewart and Frank Harris.
