Raymond S. Cross of Brunswick passed away on his 80th birthday, Thursday, December 30, 2021, at
Southeast Georgia Health System after a long illness.
Born December 30, 1941, in Pennsville, NJ, to Stewart and Katharine Bitterlich Cross, he was a resident
of Brunswick for 60 years. A veteran of the United States Navy, he retired from Georgia Pacific after 38
years of service. He was a member of Coastal Baptist Church, enjoyed racing and woodworking. He
loved to talk about cars, watching car shows on YouTube, and watching Alabama football (Roll Tide!).
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He especially loved spending time with his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judi Dawson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Ann Cross; children, Amy Blackman (Randy) and Buddy
Cross (Tammi), all of Brunswick; two brothers, Robert and Stewart Cross; grandchildren, Emily Ward
(Mitch), Erica Blackman, Evan Blackman, Elena Blackman, Jessie Cross, and Ansley Cross; and one great-
grandson, Trey Ward.
Burial will be private at Chapel Park Cemetery. A celebration of Ray's life will be held at a later date and
will be announced.
Remembrances may be made to the charity of the giver's choice.
