Raymond Wallace Hodzen, 84, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away on September 16, 2017.
Raymond was born in Dayton, Ohio, on April 6, 1933, to the late Anthony Hodzen and Kamilia (Stylski) Hodzen. He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia (Briesky), and brothers Edward and Robert Hodzen.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his daughter Sharon Bernthal, her spouse Timothy Bernthal, his son Michael Hodzen, and his spouse Wendy Hodzen. Raymond is also survived by four grandchildren: Kristy Kellom, and her spouse Ryan Kellom; Dan Bernthal, and his spouse Jenna Bernthal, Mitchell Hodzen and Tyler Hodzen, and one great grandchild, Brooklyn Kellom.
Prior to moving to Brunswick, Georgia, Raymond lived most of his adult life in Michigan, where he graduated from Hamtramck High School and Lawrence Institute of Technology. Raymond was hired by Chrysler Corporation in September 1951 to work as an electrical engineer. He was drafted in the United States Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1962. After serving his country, Raymond continued his employment with Chrysler until he retired in December 1988. For most of his career at Chrysler, Raymond lived with his family in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church.
In 2007, Raymond moved to Brunswick, Georgia, and resided in the Peppertree Crossing Community. While learning to play the ukulele, he joined the Golden Isles Strummers. This was without a doubt, his favorite hobby.
The family is planning a service for Raymond, to be held in Michigan at a later date.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Raymond's memory to the Golden Isles Hospice, Brunswick, Georgia.
