IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rebecca Corlette
Atwood
July 2, 1932 – April 10, 2025
Rebecca Corlette "Becky" Atwood, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 10, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones, under the care of Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Born July 2, 1932, she was the third child of six to James and Edna Davis Corlette. Becky was born and raised in the Lower Bluff area of Darien, was a graduate of Darien High School, and worked at the shoe factory and King Shrimp. But most importantly, she loved taking care of her family. She was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church.
A nurturer of all things, she loved people, plants, and animals. She loved her kids – the ones she gave birth to and the ones she didn't. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers, road trips to visit family, fishing, and TV Westerns and Sunday Church Services. She loved the farm in Colorado and all the animals, the mountains, and Eagles. Rumor has it that she had quite the lead foot and aspired to be a drag racer in her youth.
Mrs. Atwood was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Floyd Atwood; sons, Elmer Strickland and Harold Floyd "Hal" Atwood, III; granddaughter, Danielle Nicole Strickland; and two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by three children, Louis Herbert "Buck" Ormston (Cheryl) of Garden City and Kenny Atwood (Pat) and Lisa Atwood (Mike Mistisshen), of Brunswick; brother, Joseph Ernest "Joe" Corlette of Darien; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; several step-children, -grandchildren, and –great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is honored to assist the family of Mrs. Atwood.
