Reese W. 'Pete' Chewning, 63, of Waynesville died Saturday at the Brunswick hospital of the Southeast Georgia Health System. He lived here since 2001 coming from Roanoke, Va. He was retired and had worked as warehouse man at Blue Ridge Beverage Co. in Salem, Va. Survivors include children, Daniel R. Chewning and wife, Sherry, of Brunswick, Daryl Chewning and wife, Rhonda, of Hortense and Wayne Chewning Jr. of Roanoke, Va., Dana Himes and her husband, James, of Hortense; two sisters, Ella Jean Holdren of Roanoke, Va., and Lonna Asberry of Roanoke Va.; two brothers, Kenneth Garland Chewning of Vinton Va., and Leeray Chewning of Roanoke Va.; granddaughters, Danielle Chewning, Ashley Chewning, Amber Chewning, Alexis Chewning and Hailey Himes; a special friend, Edith Dooley; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Garland Chewning. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment following in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jeffrey Bledsoe officiating. Pallbearers will be Daniel Chewning, Daryl Chewning, Wayne Chewning, Kenny Chewning, Leeray Chewning and James Himes. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be doctors and staff of the offices of Dr. Antonio Moran and Dr. David Lawson. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.
