Richard (Dick) Donovan Griswold Jr., age 69 of Brunswick, GA, formerly of Campti, LA, died unexpectedly Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Iron Oak Farm in Brunswick, GA.
Born December 31, 1950 in Endicott, NY, he was the son of Richard Donovan Sr. and Emilie Faivre Griswold of Vestal, NY. Dick was predeceased by his father and mother and his niece, Laura-Mae Tuttle and nephew, Timothy Warfle.
Dick was an avid horseman. He had an inherent bond with and respect for the animals that he worked with all his life. His horsemanship skills began to develop when he was a boy working on the family farm in Vestal, NY. He purchased his own horses when he was a teenager and in his mid-twenties was skilled enough to become part of the team driving the Budweiser Clydesdales based out of Merrimack, NH. Dick also worked with Quarter horses and Thoroughbreds on farms including Willow Brook Farm in Northhampton, PA, Waldorf Farm in North Chatham, NY, and Red River Farm in Red River Parish, LA.
Survivors include his four sons Richard Griswold (Kourtney) of Westminster, MD, Daniel Griswold (Valerie) of Lakewood, CO, Joshua Griswold (Rachel) of Kennett Square, PA, Jeremiah Griswold (Jessica) of Troy, NY. He is also survived by his six sisters, Bernice Warfle of Friendsville, PA, Lavanche Millard of Friendship, PA, Shirley Schoeberl of Schenevus, NY, Bernita Griswold of Centerville, NY, Sandra Tuttle (Clifford) of Delevan, NY, Myrna Thayne (Patrick) of Hartwell, GA, many nieces and nephews along with his five grandchildren, Keegan, Rowan, Wyatt, Hazel and Joshua.
Dick was very loved and will be greatly missed.
