April 7, 1932 – February 13, 2024
Richard Steven Klembus, 91, of St. Simons Island, GA., passed away February 13, 2024. Mr. Klembus was a native of Cleveland, graduated from The American School High School. He was employed as a Baker for Kroger's & Schwebel's for 35 years. Mr. Klembus served in the Korean War as a tank commander from 1952 to 1954, and in the Army Reserve from 1954 to 1962. He received the Korean Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Klembus was a member of Teamsters Local 19 BCTGM and Veteran of Foreign Wars. He loved fishing and traveling to casinos.
Mr. Klembus was preceded in death by his parents, Steven and Mary (Boholy) Klembus; brother, Steve "Babe" Klembus; son, Michael Klembus; and beloved friend, Ann Larkin. He is survived by his daughter, Maria Klembus of Canal Fulton, OH.; daughter, Amy (Dean) Starr of St. Simons Island, GA.; son, Andrew (Nancy) Klembus of Benson, NC.; sister, Maryann Virostek of Hudson, OH.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Klembus of Alvin, TX.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Inurnment will be in Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio later this year.
