Robert "Bob" Owen
Goulet
Jun 27, 1936 — Aug 3, 2026
St. Simons Island
Robert Owen “Bob” Goulet, 90, of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, passed away on August 3, 2026, in Brunswick, Georgia.
Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan, on June 27, 1936. He attended Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri, a Catholic Jesuit preparatory school, and went on to graduate from the University of Missouri in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Business Administration. He met his beloved wife of 56 years, Millicent “Kay” Lowry Goulet, who predeceased him in 2014.
Bob was deeply involved in his community in Connecticut and served as past President of the Madison Country Club, where he headed the long-range planning committee for many years. Bob was also a member of New Haven Country Club in Hamden, CT and was a Governor of the Madison Beach Club. When he moved to the Sea Island community in 1992 he joined the Sea Island Golf and Beach Club in Sea Island, Georgia.
A serial entrepreneur and businessman, Bob built his career and raised his family in Madison, Connecticut. He founded, owned, and ran numerous companies in the plastics distribution and manufacturing industries over the course of his career, and he was Chairman and co-founder of a hometown bank, Shoreline Bank and Trust Company, which ultimately merged with Webster Financial.
An avid golfer, Bob played collegiate golf at the University of Missouri and won the Kansas City Amateur Championship. He went on to win several club championships and was still regularly shooting or breaking his age at 90 years old. Over his lifetime on the course, he recorded seven holes-in-one — a testament to a passion he pursued with skill and joy well into his final years at Sea Island Club.
Bob was fortunate enough to see all 4 of his grandchildren graduate from college. He also shared his love of Sea Island with them and regularly he could be seen at the Club watching and smiling at them as they played tennis and golf and enjoyed all the amenities.
Bob was loved by everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Marie Rodman, and his son, Robert Goulet II, along with four grandchildren: Siobhan Buckley, Brendan Buckley, Lauren Goulet, and Robert Goulet III.
Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no funeral services, but a celebration of life event will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Els for Autism Foundation, 18370 Limestone Creek Road, Jupiter, Florida 33458. Els for Autism is a U.S. public charity (EIN #26-3520396).
Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home was honored to assist the Goulet family.
