Robert M. "Bob" Powell, 79, of Brunswick died Thursday at Hospice of the Golden Isles. He was born in Morganton, N.C. and had been a resident of Glynn County for the past 34 years. He retired from the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War, where he received a purple heart. He later retired from FLETC. After his retirement he and his wife, Ha, owned and operated Little Saigon Restaurant on Altama Ave. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife, Ha Thi Powell of Brunswick; four sons, Randy Powell of St. Simons, Robbie Powell of Augusta, Johnny Powell of Brunswick and Jimmy Blackburn of New York City; one sister, Mary Duckworth of Morganton, N.C.; three brothers, Tom Powell of Morganton, N.C., Wayne Powell of Hickory, N.C. and Ronnie Powell of Waynesville; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews
