Obituary

Roger Lanier age 69, passed peacefully at Hospice of the Golden Isles on February 19 after beating colon in 2008 and developing lung cancer entering into a long term battle on his brain and spine. He fought right up to his last breath. Cremation services were provided by Golden Isles Cremation Center / Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. To be cremated was Daddy's wish and was honored. Born and raised in Statesboro Georgia, Roger was the son of the late Gene William Lanier and Juniata Hall. Bravely, he entered into the United States Air Force in aprox.1970 and was later honorably discharged that year. Roger's days were spent loving his family with a love that represented the love of Jesus. He forgave always and worked behind the scenes pulling family together. Family was most important to him second to Jesus. Surviving Roger's death is beloved best friend Barbara Garcia and his courageous children Jennifer of Brooklet Georgia, Christina Lanier of Darien Georgia, Sheila and Daniel(son-in-law) Highsmith of Douglas Georgia, and (son)Whitney Lanier of Ogden, Utah; his adventurous grandchildren Nicholas Pollard, Aaron Pollard, Summer Pounds, Kaylah Baker, Dustin Pounds, Braedon Clark, Holly Clark, Landon Highsmith, Kaden Highsmith, and Oakley Lanier; his loving siblings Palmer G.(brother) and Audrey(sister-in-law) Lanier of Charlotte North Carolina, Glenda Lanier of Statesboro Georgia, and Claire (sister) and Clayton (brother-in-law) Phillips of Statesboro Georgia; his winsome nieces and nephews Patrick and Caroline (in-law) Lanier and children, Courtney Lanier Tillman, Natalie Hendrix Strickland and daughter, Melanie Lewis and children, Tommy Lewis, Stephanie Hendrix and daughter; special family friends Jim and Grace McElveen and children Marcy McElveen Pulgiese and family, Michael McElveen and family, Hazel Blair and children Wayne Hoard and family, Terri Grant and family, and many wonderful cousins and even more audacious family and friends.
