Obituary

Ronald Arlyn Polmanteer went to his heavenly home on January 27, 2018. Ron was born in Syracuse, NY, the son of Arlyn and Kathryn Polmanteer on August 30, 1936. He was a graduate of Jordan High School and attended Ithaca College, and the George Meany Center for Labor Studies. He was a graduate of Brunswick College and held a vocational teaching certificate from Purdue University. He has been a resident of Glynn County since 1957. After retiring as a trades foreman from Hercules Inc., he was a special representative of the Georgia Pipe Trades, a member of Local 177 Plumbers & pipefitters (where he was Financial Secretary and Trustee for 6 years), a member of Ocean Lodge 214 F&AM, the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of GA, the Tin Can Sailor Association, and the Ferguson Scottish Society, and was on the board of directors of GA Farm Bureau. He was an 8-year veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. Mississippi, U.S.S. Joseph P. Kennedy, and U.S.S. Robinson. He served as an Elder of Altama Presbyterian Church, a member of Ocean Lodge #214 and an American United Cross Volunteer. He was active in the Savannah Presbytery. He worked as funeral assistant for Brunswick Memorial Park for many years. He is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Polmanteer; and two sons in laws, James L. Bowles and Eddie Clark. Ron is survived by his wife Emily Parker Polmanteer; three daughters, Cynthia Carter (Ellis), Linda Clark, and Rhonda Banister (Steve) all of Brunswick. 6 grandchildren, Catherine Kipp (Joey), Devin Clark (Mallory), Ryan and Jason Carter, Lauren Price (Chris) and Tracy Clark (Laura); five great grandchildren, Cassidy and Parker Price, Colt and Case Clark, and Ethan Kipp; a brother, Lewis Polmanteer of Memphis, New York; and several nieces and nephews. Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held Altama Presbyterian Church on Friday, Feb. 2nd at 10:00 a.m. to be followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A private inurnment ceremony will be held at Brunswick Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers are members of Local 177 Plumbers and Pipefitters. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations by made in memoriam to Altama Presbyterian Church 4621 Altama Ave, Brunswick, GA 31520.
