Roy "Wayne" Horne, 75, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away on August 20, 2024. Born on September 17, 1948, to R.J. and Juanita Horne, Wayne is remembered as an avid handyman, sailboat enthusiast, and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

A 1966 graduate of Glynn Academy, Wayne went on to attend South Georgia Technical school. Wayne worked as a Machinist for Babcock and Wilcox, spent time working for the Marine Port Terminal in Brunswick, and retired from the Brunswick Landing Marina. He found enjoyment in getting to know and working with the various boaters at the marina, and was even known as "The Boat Doctor" for his skills.

On November 24, 1972, Wayne married the love of his life, Susan Harris Horne. The two spent 52 loving years together. A true family man, Wayne loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. In addition to his passion for boating and sailing, he also enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and fishing. Family and friends fondly recall oyster roast get-togethers spent with Wayne, as well as his ability to fix anything that was fixable – he and neighbor Andy Hill were known as the MacGyvers of the neighborhood.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, R.J. Horne.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Harris Horne; daughters, Sara Price (Jason) and Jena Proctor (Josh); mother, Juanita Horne; brother, Greg Horne (Linda); grandchildren, Grey Horne, Erin Horne, Mason Hinshaw, Jaxon Hinshaw, Emily Proctor, and Elizabeth Proctor; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.
