Rufus W. Hope, Jr., 76, of Crescent died Friday, July 28 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 11 am Monday at Crescent Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. J.H. McQuaig officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be David Driggers, David Driggers, Jr., Robert DeWitt, Ralph DeWitt, Clark LaRoche, George Thomas, Eddie W. Poppell, and Eddie W. Poppell, Jr. He is survived by his son, Patrick H. Hope of Crescent; a daughter, JoAnn a Jodi) Jenkins of Crescent; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was a native and long-time resident of McIntosh County, and was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy, and had served in the Korean War and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a commercial fisherman and attended Crescent Baptist Church. Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
