Dr. Scott LaRue Tarplee, Jr., 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 20, 2026, in Brunswick, GA. Born in Atlanta, GA, on Oct. 5, 1946, he was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Scott L. and Mimi O’Beirne Tarplee.

Scott LaRue Tarplee, Jr., was a wonderful human, a bright light in a chaotic world, and truly a kind soul with a generous and compassionate heart. He was a loving husband and father, an incredible grandpa, and a great friend and neighbor. He loved Jesus, his church, and his community. Scott faithfully served his community throughout his career in private practice as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. He served his country for three years in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

Scott treasured his time on the water, whether it was on a jet ski in the ocean, white water kayaking down the river, fishing with a buddy, or floating in his backyard pool with the family. He was a happy guy.

He was a lover of all animals, large and small. He loved music and photography and was an artist at heart. Enthralled and inspired by the natural world around him, from sunsets to fall leaves, the sounds of rain and the smells of flowers, he loved and appreciated every detail. His own gardens were his sanctuary.

Scott’s wit and wisdom kept you on your toes and his back rubs lulled you to sleep in the gentlest way. He will be missed deeply, but we will carry him in our hearts for eternity.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eva Baggarley Tarplee; his children, son Jonathan and daughters Sarah (Pilar) and Maggie (Mike); granddaughter, Michaela Thomas; sister, Mimi Tarplee Roberts (Jim); brother-in-law, John Baggarley (Christy); father-in-law, Joseph Baggarley; cousin, Ed O'Beirne (Christine); and several nieces and nephews.

Scott’s family will gather for a private Celebration of Life at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.
