Obituary

Shirley Mae Williams, a resident of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away on June 30, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on December 2, 1946, in Darien, Shirley built her life and legacy in the community she called home.

Shirley was the daughter of Leroy Allen and Mary Lee Walker, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Charles Everett Williams Sr., with whom she shared a partnership until his passing. Shirley was also preceded in death by her son Troy Williams and daughter Sylvia Williams.

Surviving Shirley are her sons, Charles Williams, Jr., and Michael Williams. She is also remembered by a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren, each of whom benefited from her wisdom and unwavering support.

For several years, Shirley contributed to her community as a teacher’s aide. In this role, she touched many lives, offering not only instruction but also kindness and stability.

Beyond her professional contributions, Shirley’s personal gifts made her the heart of every gathering. She was recognized by all who knew her as a woman of humor and light, always fun to be around. She will be remembered for her skill as a wonderful cook, baker, and an impressive seamstress. She also delighted in bargain-hunting at yard sales, an activity that perfectly captured her zest for life and her joy in life’s simple pleasures.

Shirley’s character was marked by a gentle strength—firm yet loving, consistent in her principles, and ever-generous with laughter and kindness.
