Sylvia Wayne Hurd, 87, of St. Simons Island, passed away on August 16, 2026.

A beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her family. She was born on May 19, 1939, in Eufaula, Alabama, to Luther Jones and Doris Helms Jones.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carroll Martin. She was a devoted mother to David Hurd, Randy Hurd, Sean Hurd, and Lisa Hurd. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and extended family members who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

Sylvia will be remembered for the love she gave to her family and the special place she held in the hearts of those who knew her. Above all, her family wants it to be remembered that she knew who Jesus was! Her faith and the assurance of her Savior were a meaningful part of who she was and the legacy she leaves behind.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
