Obituary

Theo Seymour Corwin, 80, of Waynesville died Saturday at her residence after an extended illness. She had been a resident of Brantley County for thirteen years and was a past forty-seven year resident of Brunswick . She was a homemaker and was previously employed as a steel burner and cutter at the Brunswick Ship Yards during World War II. She had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Morningside Baptist Church and later Waynesville Baptist Church. She had been an active member of various area senior citizens groups and was a seven-year Hospice volunteer during the eighties, a member of the Red Hat Society, Lady Bugs Craft and Quilting Group, Waynesville Volunteer Fire Department for twelve years and Brunswick and Nahunta Alanon Group, C.G. Tres Dias Community, and had participated in the Senior Olympics. She is survived by two sons, Richard Clark (Kathleen) Corwin and Vernon Clayton (Susan) Corwin, both of Brunswick; one daughter, Anita C. (Henry) Edwards, of Waynesville; one sister, June (Al) Kidd of Huntsville, Alabama; one brother, Howard (Catherine) Seymour of Saint Simons Island; seven grandchildren, Tina (Shannon) McCullough, Tonya (Jeff) Whitworth, Richard (Renee) Corwin, Kip Corwin, Niki (Tom) Cain, Melinda (Ron) Mizelle, and Stacy (Greg) Roberson; fourteen great-grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Julius Clayton 'Swampy' Corwin and parents, Howard and Ruby Seymour. The family will receive friends during visitation in the Hillcrest Chapel of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 - 9 pm . A funeral service will be held in the Hillcrest Chapel Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 11 am with the Rev. Larry Altman officiating with interment to follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery in the Garden of Pinecrest. Serving as active pallbearers are Shannon McCullough, Jeff Whitworth, Richard Corwin, Kip Corwin, Tom Cain, Ron Mizelle, and Greg Roberson. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Thomas, Dr. James Greene, Dr. Scott Clay and Dr. Rudolph Nunneman and staff, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and members of Alanon, and AA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.
