Troy C. Lindsey, Jr., 82, former longtime resident of Brunswick, passed peacefully in his sleep August 26th in Columbia S.C. Born in Fitzgerald Ga., he attended Americus High School graduating in 1950. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy, serving honorably on the USS Hornet during the Korean Conflict. After his time in the US Navy, he attended the Florida State University graduating with a Bachelor's degree. After college, Troy then married Jeanette Waites and settled in Brunswick living here for 55 years. He was a longtime active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and other various committees in the church. He was employed by Equifax Insurance Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1990. After retirement he volunteered at the International Seamans House on Colonels Island, and also as a redcoat at S.E.GA. Health Systems in Brunswick.
Survivors are his wife, Teresa Jeanette Lindsey of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Jacquelyn Lindsey Long (Rick) of Columbia, S.C. ; a son, Thomas C. Lindsey of Brunswick; a sister, Bernice (Billy) Jones of Macon; 2 brothers, Charles (Margie) Lindsey of Macon, and Donald (Grace) Lindsey of Augusta. 4 grandchildren, Sean Costello, Blake Long, Thomas Lindsey and Estella Lindsey.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3PM in the chapel at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home, visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the services. Pastor Larry Boyette to officiate. Burial to follow in the Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Altzheimers Association, or the American Heart Association.
